Who are BlueBet?
BlueBet kicked off in 2015, and was founded by the experienced CEO Michael Sullivan, who came from the SportingBet operation.
Financing the BlueBet business began in earnest during 2013, eventually becoming a fully Australian owned venture two years later.

BlueBet Sign up Process
I found the sign up process to be reasonably easy compared to other sites.
Downloading the APK file from the main website page to the mobile phone was straight forward, so too the install.
Unlike some other apps, there was no auto location finder (ie Google Maps) to determine your physical home address, which was both simple but odd, considering what other sites do.
Also, there is no segueing into a ID Verification screen as this information is now a compulsory requirement for signing up with betting agencies.
More on that underneath.
ID Verification
If you were new to signing up to an online betting agency and knew nothing about ID verification, then you could quite easily sail along with BlueBet being none the wiser.
That is until you hit a brick wall.
Unfortunately, there are four issues which makes BlueBet’s deployment of ID Verification burdensome.
These are:
1. As mentioned above during the sign up process. It is not made clear enough to the new customer the importance of verification. This should form part of the sign in process and not be left as an afterthought to be discovered later.
2. On the ID Verification screen, BlueBet uses a manual outdated method of proving one’s identity via scanning of key documents such as passports, drivers license and medicare, and then having them sent in by snail mail or email (with digital attachments).
3. Yet, if you go to the Help section via the hamburger menu, and scroll down to the section called Verification, it is there that they mention the Green ID method which is now commonplace throughout Australia’s digital landscape. Green ID is used by others online bookies such as SportChamps and PalmerBet, two that we have recently reviewed, and it works great.
4. The manual process as per Step 2 takes time, and will preclude the instant use of the BlueBet facility until such time that your ID verification is approved.
Green ID should be first and foremost for ID verification, and should be plastered all over the Verification screen at the very least, not hidden away in a non-prominent location. It would be good to see BlueBet making a documentation change to reflect this.
Highlights
* I like the clean layout, it might be a bit simplistic but that’s what some punters are looking for.
* The Black Book functionality is a very nice feature.
Website
Click on Login in the top right corner, enter your credentials to hook on.
The website uses Responsive HTML so it will look the same as your mobile app, but using the Web version will probably use up more battery life on your phone.
Also, clicking on the hamburger menu sees the screen jump around all over the place.
My experience was very erratic. I would recommend using the mobile app instead.
Mobile App
BlueBet has apps for both the Android and IOS platforms. I’m working with the Android app, and it seems to be clean and basic, without bells and whistles. A better site map would work wonders especially after the confusion around ID verification.
Everything is menu-loaded, while a Quick Multis button bar sits along the bottom, whereas other sites use the bottom of the screen for things such as a quick navigation to things like My Bets, My Notifications and My Account.
Funding Types/Deposit Methods
Deposits for account funding can be made using Credit/Debit card, POLi, EFT transfer, BPAY, cheques and cash.
BlueBet Withdrawal Options
Customers who have used a credit card for deposit purposes must return the equal amount of their deposits back to the same credit card. Any surplus goes into a nominated bank account. Other withdrawal methods are bank transfer, which takes approximately 1-2 days.
VISA/Mastercard Option
BlueBet currently does not offer a debit card linked to the customer’s account balance.
Market/Activity Types
Since it’s 2015 Inception, the market has determined that BlueBet is an agency specialising in the three code operation of gallops, trots and greyhounds.
Of course, like all the other online betting agencies, BlueBet does deal in other sports all of which familiar to most Aussie punters. From the main hamburger menu, go to:
– >Sports
BlueBet Promotions
Yes, there is a specific page for Promotions and you’ll need to login to this particular screen to see all the weekly action. This area looks well maintained and should prove popular to punters looking for a bit of action.
Betting Types/Features/Odds
BlueBet offers numerous fixed price odds on racing, as well as the typical array of exotics.
Quick Multis are far easier to navigate in BlueBet than some other sites we’ve seen. You can see these on any race card usually at the footer of the page.
They also offer novelty bets such as ‘odds and evens’ and something that I haven’t seen that often but one called ‘inside outside’, which is to do with a horse winning from certain barrier draws.
Again, you can see these at the bottom of every race card.
Other Betting Features/Race Card
Compared to other betting agencies in Australia, BlueBet is lacking in some of the additional features that others have. This may be a non negotiable for some punters, while others might not think it’s necessary.
Live Racing
There is no live sport or racing coverage on BlueBet.
Featured Bets
The featured bets functionality is not available on BlueBet.
Fluctuations
Yes, you can see fluctuations on horses within races. Click on the horse’s name or the trainer’s name, and a new screen will pop up which will show a few other options one of which is fluctuations.
Bet Tracker
The bet tracker functionality is not available on BlueBet.
Speed Map
The speed map functionality is not available on BlueBet.
Form Guide
Yes there is a form guide, actually there are two. The first is a short form guide and abbreviated version thereof, and then there is a full guide. Like Fluctuations, click on the horse’s name to open up a new screen to see this detail. The abbreviated form guide is for the selected horse only, the full form guide is for all horses in the race.
Other Features
Social
Much like the Trash Talk function which we featured on our review of the SportChamps app a few weeks ago, BlueBet does something similar with their Social function/facility.
Here you can invite other BlueBet users into your social channel.
Again the community you build up is purely within the BlueBet application and doesn’t drop out to an external link like Facebook, which we noticed on the PalmerBet app the other week via their Bet Book function.
Go to:
->Social ->Connections
Black Book
Not many online betting agencies include a Black Book function.
But BlueBet does, which is a great addition in my opinion.
It removes the need to use a Black Book function on an external website and the fact that you can use it within your BlueBet mobile environment and integrate it with your betting activities does add appeal.
To use the Black Book, click on any horse in any race, particularly one you want to follow, go into its details (click on the trainers name), and where it says ‘add comment to Black Book’, enter some text.
Once you save it, a little blue tag will show up next to the horse’s name which would indicate that it’s now in your Black Book.
To refer to the Black Book go to the hamburger menu:
->Social ->Black Book
Responsible Gambling
Like some other betting agencies which we’ve reviewed just recently, Responsible Gambling is given a high priority and there is extensive detail on the relevant BlueBet page to do with this topic.
To refer to this material, click on the Help menu option, then go to the footer of the screen and you will see the Responsible Gambling link.
Customer and Online Help
Yes customer help is available in all manners of communication, including a Live Chat facility accessible from the hamburger menu.
The Help page is the same as the Contact Us page, it provides details for phone, email, fax and post.
Bluebet Android App
In Summary
BlueBet has been in the market now for 4 years, but I’m thinking they really need to up the ante to be competitive with some of the other offerings out there.
I realise this takes time and money as an overall investment to the business, and therein lies the difference between attracting a customer between betting agency 1 versus betting agency 2.
As mentioned, the ID verification process needs tidying up, while the race card functions probably need a rework to be competitive, especially against the Ladbrokes offering which is really good and sets the industry standard.
The Black Book function is a good idea, considering not many other betting agencies have deployed this.
Mostly there is a lot of similarity between BlueBet and all the other betting agencies, it’s really only the points-of-difference which will decide whether punters will go with them or not.
Still, worth an investigation.
In this BlueBet Review, we cover one of the newest sportsbooks in Australia that focuses on both racing and sports markets both domestically and internationally.

A quick look at the sportsbook shows that slightly fewer markets have been offered to players when compared to other big Australian sites. However, what’s constant is that the top and popular Australian sports have been provided with a blend of horse racing events. Among the top sports to expect include Australian Rules, Rugby League, Basketball, Soccer, and Cricket. The different sports have opened up avenues for different leagues, tournaments, and events. This means that Aussie players can bet on NBA matches, NFL, EPL, A-League, and many more at BlueBet.
The sports section gets better for the different range of markets available. On the NBA matches, for example, bettors can place their wagers on markets such as; 1st half markets, player rebounds, double result, player points, player assists, and 1st quarter markets. Aside from that BlueBet allows players to make different bet types such as;
- Moneyline
- Point Spread
- Parlay
- Prop Bets
- Futures
The racing section, on the other hand, can be accessed on the option ‘Racing’. Here, players will find an easy page to navigate on with top horse racing events, greyhounds, and harness racing events available. However, you will find out that horse racing stands as their main focus allowing you to bet on several thoroughbred and jockey challenges. The upcoming races are also provided and are readily accessible on the main racing page.
Generally, the selection is strong with top domestic and international picks available. What’s more, different racing bet types are made available to players including; Exotics (Quinella, Exacta, Trifecta, and First Four), B3Tote, MidTote, TopFluc, Doubles, Trebles, and more.
Some of BlueBet’s main competitors in Australia are; Ladbrokes AU, Bet365 AU, Unibet AU, Pointsbet AU, Neds, BetEasy, and PalmerBet.

Odds & Limits – Best odds on Horse Racing
BlueBet offers high and competitive odds to players which is one of their major strengths. When compared to their top rivals, BlueBet stands as a top choice especially in the Horse Racing section that they have laid their focus on. The sports section has also seen competitive odds provided with BlueBet going head-to-head with heavyweights such as Unibet AU.
Like some other bookmakers, BlueBet has imposed several payout, winning, and betting limits, especially, on racing events. They include;
- The maximum payout on any telephone wager – $200,000
- The maximum payout on any internet wager – $100,000
- The maximum payout on an All-Up wager – AUD$50,000
- The maximum payout on a Top Fluc wager – AUD$20,000

BlueBet additional features – Various special features available
Our BlueBet review dives deeper into the additional features:
User-Experience – Simple website to use
Bluebet website is not the most technically impressive site available but its simple interactive nature makes it laudable. The white, blue, and red blend of colors is easy on the eye and has been further complemented with sizeable fonts that are easily readable. The main page has been divided into three columns with a familiar design. The left side displays the sports and racing lists, the markets and odds in the middle section, and the right side displaying the bet slips.
A blog section is also provided at BlueBet and is worth your time. You will find the latest game previews, game predictions, sports news, and betting tips of the top major sports. Generally, everything is in order at BlueBet with navigation made easier and options easy to find in the lobby.
Live streaming – Not available at BlueBet
Unfortunately, unlike other big bookmakers operating in Australia, BlueBet has not offered any live streaming option yet.

BlueBet has also offered a mobile platform that has seen the launch of both a mobile site and application to the players. The mobile app is designed for both Android and iOS players. The BlueBet main website provides a download avenue for the Android players while those using iOS-powered phones will download the BlueBet app from the App Store.
The app is designed perfectly and is fast to operate. Additionally, punters will have it easy thanks to the design that enables them to place bets quickly. Both sports and racing events are provided on the app with the different markets and bet types also available. This is the same case with the mobile site version. Social sharing is also available on the app allowing players to connect with other friends for a more exciting betting experience.
The mobile platform has also seen various top features available on the desktop also made available on the app and site. They include; Same Game Multi, Quick bet, Blackbook, and Protest Payout. This passes as a recommended app with not much to complain about.

BlueBet Review – A recommended bookmaker
Our BlueBet review concludes that the bookie is still in its early days when compared to other sites that have been in the Australian market. However, the bookmaker passes as a recommended platform. The crucial sections such as the products hosted have been handled well. Players can place bets on sports or racing events in different markets and bet types. Additionally, customer support is available 24/7, a mobile platform is provided, and several top features stand out at BlueBet.
More sports markets would, however, be required on the platform to improve more betting opportunities. Additionally, the addition of other features such as live streaming would be welcomed by players.
